Ministry Leaders and Parish Supervisors – Caritas Award

We are delighted to learn that 31 S6 pupils from St John’s Academy have accepted the invitation to take part in the Pope Benedict XVI Caritas Awards this year. One of the most important aspects of Caritas is the 20 hours service that they are asked to complete in their local parish and faith community. This is an invaluable opportunity for us to include young people in our ministry and to give them a positive experience of parish life; their service can also help to enrich our own contributions to the life of the parish. If you have been involved in supervising the work of these young people in the past, or if you lead a church group or ministry and would like to be involved, then I have two invitations to share with you:

Leader Meeting

There will be a briefing meeting at St John’s church hall, Melville Street on Thursday 10th September at 7pm for the leaders of all ministry areas and church groups as well as the adults who have been and would like to be involved in the supervision of Caritas Award participants.

Invitation to School

Leaders of parish ministries and Caritas Award supervisors are invited to come to St John’s Academy at 1.30pm on Monday 14th September. You will have the opportunity to meet the Caritas participants and they will have the chance to ask you some questions about your ministry. The hope is that this will help the parish and the young people to discuss and agree suitable service for the benefit of all. If you can’t make it, we would appreciate it if you would elect a representative to attend.
